What materials will I need for the crochet face scrubbies?
A soft cotton yarn is the best choice for crochet face scrubbies. I used Cascade Yarns Nifty Cotton which is a worsted weight 100% cotton yarn. This provides just the right balance of soft and scrubby for washing your face. You can purchase or order this yarn through your local yarn shop.
You will also need a size J (6 mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks are Furl’s Fiberarts Streamline Resin. They have an extra thick handle for hand comfort, and an inline hook style that I find easiest for getting in and out of stitches and chains.
Lastly, you will need a locking stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round and a tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

Difficulty Level: Easy
Finished Measurements: 4 1/4 inches in diameter
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Nifty Cotton (100% Cotton; 185 yds; 100 g; yarn weight category: 4/worsted/medium): 1 skein #07 Soft Lilac, one skein is sufficient to make several scrubbies. Each scrubby takes about 15 yds (8 g) of yarn.
Crochet Hook: J (6 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge.
Notions: Locking stitch marker, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 3 rnds = About 3 1/4 inches across.

Scrubby
Make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (2 sc, 2 hdc, 8 dc) in ring, place locking st marker in first st to mark beginning of rnd, do not turn – 12 sts. Move marker up into first st of each rnd as work progresses.
Rnd 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), 2 dc in each st around, do not turn – 24 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] 4 times, [hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] 4 times, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 4 times, sl st in first st to join, do not turn – 36 sts.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 1, repeat from * around, sl st to first st to join – 36 sts. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
