Valentine’s Day as a kid was one of my favorite holidays. I have distinct memories in first grade of making all sorts of handmade valentines for my classmates. As a “grown-up” I still get that excited feeling as February gets closer.
We have an amazing collection of art ideas for Valentine’s Day. These are gorgeous Valentine’s art and crafts ideas that will reflect the creativity of each child that makes it.
Valentine’s Day Crafts for Kids
This Valentine’s Day craft project consists of three layers– a wooden heart base, bleeding tissue paper on white cardboard for the center, and painted newspaper on top.
Air dry clay + flower petals are all you need to make this stunning heart keepsake. This project is great for preschoolers on up.
3. Papel Picado Garland
Learn how to make papel picado by cutting paper designs with tissue paper for a beautiful Valentine’s Day garland.
After seeing this idea a few years back, I now paint my own bleeding hearts each year. Process art is fun for adults too!
5. Bubble Wrap Hearts
Painting with bubble wrap and making a print onto heart-shaped paper is a favorite process art activity for toddlers and big kids too!
6. Lace Painting
Lace, liquid watercolor and pipettes make up this easy & elegant project. Watch as the colors bleed together for a simple lesson in color theory!

8. Melted Crayon Hearts Garland
Create your own DIY Valentine decorations with melted crayon hearts. This Valentine’s Day garland look beautiful hanging in the window!
We love this idea from @mericherryla! Roll out Sculpey clay or run it through a clay machine. Then cut out hearts with cookie cutters. A fun art activity or give as homemade valentines.
